Quarterly Newsletter 1- Jan – Mar 2023 (Iloilo)

Visionful Greetings!

Welcome to Future Vision Home, Iloilo City first quarterly newsletter. This quarter is filled with surprises, struggles, and stress as I went through my journey of Act 5.  We will be publishing our newsletter quarterly.

Philippines Arrival After Kanthari

It was a big surprised when I came out from NAIA Terminal 3 last Dec. 22, 2022, I was welcomed by the sight of our Founder, friends, and beneficiaries, it was indeed a heartwarming moment after 7 months missing them while attended kanthari training to be a social change maker and my back pack full of knowledge and learnings to start Future Vision Home in Iloilo City.

Care Channels, Inc.

It was our World Sight Day Celebration at JHONSON and JHONSON and we had MOBILITY ORIENTATION

The Visionistas had a trip to the company to give orientation and mobility awareness for the employees there. The employees joined in the practice of mobility training and use the same kind of cane that visually impaired and blind people as well as being helped by a sighted guide.

As their great gift to us they provided us with twenty white canes which we shared to our members.

It’s the first time for Jhonson & Jhonson to celebrate World Sight Day with blind people themselves and they felt how it is to have no sight. It helps them understand and appreciate their own sight as well.

Braille Day Celebration

Braille is a system which the blind uses to read and write. Braille day is being celebrated every 4th of January in honor of its inventor John Louise Braille.

On June 4, 2023, as we welcome the year we also celebrated the first ever Braille Day celebration in Future Vision Home. Its objective is to give credit to the inventor of Braille at the same time give awareness to people about the importance of Braille in the lives of the blind at the same time promote its use to the blind and how it will help the sighted as well.

We are visited by the Head of Persons with Disability Affairs office and promised to include the celebration in the yearly celebration of their office.

Care Channels, International

Feb. 14, 2023 was a very significant date for Future Vision because Care Channels, Inc sent us the Memorandum of Understanding upon checking all our submitted credentials and sealed our partnership. From this, Care Channels International base in Singapore already knew about us and scheduled a visit last Feb. 18, 2023, to know more about us. It was a very productive visit and pledge that they support us through a scholarship of our beneficiaries until they graduate in college. The support will be both in Taguig City and Iloilo City. Also, the founder of Mr. Seng Eng said that they will help us re-open our Massage Clinic for the economic sustainability of our beneficiaries and they will come back this April for another visit.

Finding our Beneficiaries

The worries I had of finding our beneficiaries since I am still in Manila was put to naught because my family give their 100% support of our branch project. Our hired houseparent was the one responsible for visiting and looking for them. For now, we have 3 totally blind children ages from 6 – 9 years old. We have also prospect beneficiaries which will recommend by the president of Iloilo Blind Union and SPED Blind High School Teacher.

Future Vision Home

Through the effort of my adopted son/nephew, he was able to reserve our Future Vision Home for the owner is the parent of his friend and colleague at work.

Future Vision Pride

Eshell Rose L. Duyan, 19 years old, our Visionista. She is one of our Ace Player in Goalball and was selected as one of the members of Philippines Goalball National Team. She will compete together with her team for 2023 Asian Para Games on May 5 – 10, 2023 in Cambodian. Since 2018 she was our player and Goalball and brough a lot of medals and trophies, and I was with her as her trainer and coach. Because of this opportunity she was given the privilege to light the torch during the Division Palaro Division Meet Opening.

9th Year Anniversary

At first we were wondering how could have celebration for our 9th Year Anniversary here at Future Vision Home. Since the start we did not have a yearly celebration because of funding issues. But as always if we have just liked this year, we had fund ending just right for the celebration. One of the parents give an amount almost enough to pay for the venue. Others also

Ms. Jane Alindayo a SPED Teacher in South Dakota USA gave some amount for the prizes for our games. Another parent speak to the owner of the venue to give to us a big discount.

In total we are able to have 8,800 contributions enough to pay for the rent, buy for prizes, and other ingredients for spaghetti and lots of other foods contributed by the visionistas themselves.

We had simple program prepared by our visionistas and after wards enjoyed swimming and for those who did not swim sang together. To be exact our attendance reached to forty-eight. It includes the visionistas, parents/guardians, relatives, and visitors. Looking back7 years ago as I first step to the threshold of Future Vision, I did not think that I will be part of them celebrating the joy and empowerment and to manage our branch project in Iloilo City.
